On August 16th, the grand opening of the 2023 China Digital Economy Innovation and Development Conference (CDEIDC) was held in Shantou, Guangdong Province.

The Conference aims to build a national platform for industrial exchanges and cooperation as well as an important window for international cooperation in the digital economy.

At the Conference, foreign academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shing-Tung Yau, a world-renowned mathematician and the first Chinese winner of the Fields Medal, and Joseph Sifakis, also an academician of the French Academy of Sciences and an A.M. Turing Award winner, as well as Narongsak Putthapornmongkol, President of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, spoke respectively to discuss the new direction of digital economy development.

According to Mr. Narongsak, being committed to the principle of "strengthening the city with industries", Shantou has been striving to build the industrial development pattern of "three news, two specials and one big" (new energy, new materials, new generation of electronic information industry; textile and garment, traditional creative toy industry; and big health industry), demonstrating a bright future of Shantou"s development to overseas Chinese. The Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce hopes to take the opportunity of the Conference to strengthen the economic ties with all parties, while attracting more Chinese businessmen in Thailand to take part in the development of Shantou"s digital economy.

At present, China"s digital economy is in the first echelon of global digital economy development. With further consolidation of its advantage in new infrastructure construction and its ever-growing core industries, digital economy has become a key pillar of the national economy.

At the Conference, the "Report on China"s Digital Economy Industry Development (2023)", the "China Digital Economy Development Index Report (2023)", and the "2023 Top Ten Trends of Digital Economy" were released by the CAICT, the CEPREI and the CCID respectively. Activities including a main forum, 16 theme forums and exhibitions, and the final of the CDEIDC Contest were also held at the same time.

It is reported that since the 2022 CDEIDC was successfully held in Shantou, the city has seen its digital economy taking off. As leading enterprises in digital economy such as Tencent, Alibaba, Huawei and Luxshare-ICT have started to lay out their businesses in Shantou, the number of new digital economy enterprises in the city has doubled, with the registered capital increased by 3.2 times.

2023中国数字经济创新发展大会在汕头开幕

8月16日，2023中国数字经济创新发展大会在广东省汕头市隆重开幕。

本次大会聚力打造国家级数字经济产业交流合作平台、数字经济国际合作的重要窗口。

会上，中国科学院外籍院士、国际知名数学家、菲尔兹奖首位华人得主丘成桐，图灵奖获得者、中国科学院外籍院士、法国工程院院士约瑟夫·希发基思，泰国中华总商会主席林楚钦分别发言，共同探讨数字经济发展新航向。

“数学是数字经济的基础。”丘成桐表示，“汕头在国际通信业务方面具备重要地位，拥有丰富的海上风电、制造业和侨乡资源，发展数字经济具有得天独厚的优势和潜力。”

林楚钦表示，汕头坚定不移走“工业立市、产业强市”之路，构建“三新两特一大”产业发展格局的部署让海外侨胞看到汕头发展的广阔前景。泰国中华总商会期待借中数大会的契机，与各方加强经济商贸往来，推动更多泰国华商参与汕头数字经济产业发展。

当前，我国数字经济处于全球数字经济发展第一梯队，新型基础设施建设优势进一步夯实，数字经济核心产业不断发展壮大，成为国民经济关键支柱。

大会上，中国信息通信研究院发布了《中国数字经济产业发展报告（2023）》，工业和信息化部电子第五研究所发布了《中国数字经济发展指数报告（2023）》，中国电子信息产业发展研究院发布了《2023数字经济十大趋势》。大会同期还举办1场主论坛、16场主题论坛及主题展览、中数大赛决赛等系列活动。

据悉，2022中数大会在汕头成功举办以来，汕头数字经济发展一炮打响，腾讯、阿里巴巴、华为、立讯精密等数字经济各领域头部企业纷纷布局汕头，全市新增数字经济企业翻一番，注册资本增长3.2倍。
